AADR/ADEA ADCFP Career Options in Academic Dentistry Seminar
|
|---|
Wednesday, March 21, 8:3011:30 a.m.
Facilitators: Dr. Marc Geissberger, University of the Pacific, and 2006 ADCFP Mentors
This seminar is designed to attract dental students interested in academic careers and to provide them with information that will encourage them to pursue careers in dental education. The seminar will begin with a plenary session focused on career paths in dental education: rewards and issues. During that session, options for career paths, academic preparation needed, the demand for faculty positions, and the rewards, risks, and issues of each pathway will be discussed. The seminar will then break out into six sessions led by the 2006 ADCFP Mentors. These sessions will cover research, education, service and clinical teaching, the "classic triple threat" (teaching, research, service), academic administration, and part-time teaching (blended practice and clinical teaching). The seminar will end with a group wrap-up of "words of wisdom." All faculty and students are encouraged to attend.
